UI Afterschool Academies

The UI Afterschool Academy program provides a holistic extended day program to help meet the needs of targeted at-risk students.  Our program of academic and enrichment learning activities is designed to improve student academic performance and character/social development.  The following represent the primary goals of a UI Afterschool Academy:

  •    Improve the fundamental Reading and Math skills of students 
  •    Provide opportunities for students to broaden their
       experience, learn to make smart choices, become more civic
       minded, and increase self-esteem
  •    Increase students' motivation and confidence to succeed in 
       school and make positive life choices
  •    Provide character building experiences for students
  •    Increase opportunities for parents to engage in their child's 
       education and academic development
  •    Assist working families by offering a safe and enriching 
       afterschool program for students
